Look at the top 8 of any major legacy or modern event. The cards that are common between those decks are what you would consider staples.

to quote training day "you gotta put your own work in around here son"

People here are generally helpful IF it isnt something you could easily look up yourself. I think this falls under something you couldve found yourself. Welcome to MOTL.

Actually, the list of what's considered staples of any format can be pretty long. Most people aren't going to sit here an type everything out for you. Especially when the info is readily available from many sources.

We love helping people with attitude who are too lazy to do preliminary research on their own. Here's a list to get started with:
- Armageddon Clock
- Sedge Troll
- Sorrow's Path
- Great Wall
- Wood Elemental

I think a lot of people use that word wrong.
stuff like counterspell, disenchant, etc are staples.

people seem to use staple as the word for "whats currently hot" like sneak attack.

It only sees play in one deck.

Legacy "staple" shortlist consists of: Duals, Fetches, Wasteland, the 2-drop critters, FoW, Brainstorm, Ponder, StP, and that's about it.
