I recall it is around $7, based on past MOTL sales thread by CA MOTL members. Today, a member quoted me $15, which was a bit of a shock. Any CA MOTL member with actual experience of sending registered mail from Canada to USA care to share the cost figures? Thanks

Canada Post's website shows prices weirdly. The $11.50 or whatever it says doesn't include the cost of sending the letter, so you do end up at about $15 or so. It hasn't been $7 since before 2000. It was $11 a few years ago, but they axed that service.

It is absurd. I send a fair amount of registered packaging to Canada. It usually is always upwards of $20.I hate it. :/ Trag3dy

Seems about right then. Postage rates went up as of Jan 23rd. Normal stamp price only went up .01 but to send a bubble mailer in the US now costs $2.00 instead of the $1.39 that it was before Jan 23rd. Delivery confirmation is now .85 instead of .80.

Yeah. It works the other way 'round, too. There's really no point paying for that option. __________________ "I have heard the mermaids singing, each to each. I do not think they will sing to me." -T.S. EliotRIP Ari Legacy UGB River Rock primer. PM comments/questions. Info on grad school in Phil.

it just stops being trackable on the originating country's site. You can typically go to the destination countries website and get updated tracking info. One website I randomly stumbled on seems to simplify everything for you a bit, track-trace.com

I'm not sure what I like about the service more, the fact that its horrendously overpriced or that the package you send will probably hibernate in customs for weeks as well. Its pathetic that in the USA they spend a couple bucks to have someone sign to receive and we have to spend $15. /rant __________________ |My Angels~My P9 l""|"\__, |~~My #1 Angel~~l'_|'_|_|) |(@)(@)""***|(@)(@)**|(@)

The US is denser. Post is dirt cheap in Japan and rediculously cheap in Singapore. Canada Post has to service all of those middle of nowhere cities like Iqualuit.

Canada Post's site has an option called AR for small packages. The receiver has to sign upon receipt, so I guess that's the equivilent of DC?Anyway, I ran a few mock-ups through using that option, and it costs about 9-10 for AR from Ontario to Calafornia (I'm guessing the whole of Canada to the US) and about 15 from Ontario to another address in Ontario (which is messed up). But this option isn't available for standard or irregular (bubble) envelopes. So I guess you could pad the envelope to meet small package requirements and save a few buck with AR from Canada to the States? I think that's what that means.

CA Mail is definitely not cheap. Classic story. Someone found it costs $60-70 to ship via airmail to me. So chose $30 sea freight registered mail. Close to 3 months now, still not yet received that package. Best is, 1 month after sending that sea freight, he sent ANOTHER package using sea freight even though I told him earlier that sea freight will take a few months. (Both times, he did not ask me for my opinions before choosing sea freight). Best part, both packages are around $2000 each. Now I tend to avoid CA members. Mail is simply too expensive

That is $15 if they accept the cards as documents. Canada Post stipulates that this rate is only for documents. If the postage clerk decides that collector cards need to be shipped as non-document small parcel then your registration goes up to $22 plus the postage for the parcel. Very expensive.

Yes our registered shipping is a crock. $15 is about right.
