What's the current push for this guy all of a sudden? Is it due to rotating standard or something im missing that works with a theros card?

Likely,I believe he was played a ton in block, and with Theros looking under powered compared to RTR block maybe folks are thinking it will be block decks splashing Theros/M14. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario and Canada 9th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Theros is intentionally slower than RTR and INN block. It's likely control decks will do better in a slower format

Here's hoping the Red Hammer makes a new fires type deck.Makes me sad that BoP doesn't exist with hammer being RR. __________________ Member Since 03/28/2001 12000+ posts 1st in posts in Ontario and Canada 9th in posts on MOTL 5th in Refs in Ontario Pushing to get to top 100 in MOTL Refs

Was kind of hoping for a Bestow BoP/Llanowar Elves card. something like: G 1/1 t: add G bestow: 1G: enchanted creature gets T: add 1 of anything.

Rotating standard. It was an extremely powerful tool in the block format (arguably the best card in the deck, the good block decks actually played 3 Revs and 4 Jace AoT), so people tend to think with the impending rotation that it will likely see a lot of play in standard. Additionally, now that the full spoiler is released, we know there are no strong Azorius, Esper, or UWR PWs that will hurt his market share for any blue based decks. Elspeth is fine, but a 6 mana PW can't be your A-plan. It'll be more like Jace-Gideon in CawBlade era standardwhere you play 4 Jaces and maybe 1-2 Elspeths.

I think the new legend rule may have a little impact on jace aot. Use one play another sacrifice the old one and use the new one. Being able to give -2/-0 to all creatures attacking you could be big. Also twice for the mini fact or fiction ability.
