I am new to this game and trying to work up a collection of cards because most the people I know play Legacy only. Many of them hate Standard, and really some Standard decks will cost as much as a decent Legacy deck anyway. But, I have been buying several cards lately and learned recently that there are those out there who will fake the cards and sell them on ebay. I should not be surprised, but I wanted to know how to spot a fake so I do not get ripped off. Also, if this topic is in the wrong place I apologize.

As my question got eaten up in the PfM (interesting dialogue on dual reprints, though!), I'll repost here:quote: Originally posted by Kryne: I often see/hear people bring up "rosette printing patterns" during the discussion of legitimate/counterfeit magic cards. Does anyone have a good example of what they look like up close and what fake cards lacking them look like? My google fu seems to be failing.

re: KryneGet a magnifying glass, a good one, and take a very close look at your magic cards. The rosette printing pantern is how the ink is printed onto the card in a flower-like pattern that looks like circile made of circles. see: http://xpedx.edviser.com/default.asp?req=glossary/term/2038 http://www.wunderland.com/WTS/Andy/ProjectEBAY/pics/MoreBlackLotusImages/BlackLotus.Mrez.jpg its all those little dots that look like imaging errors/artifacts. They are the rossette pattern. and another example: http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q109/AzureWinter/Untitled.jpg __________________ Joz - can we ban Leshrac for not fixing the Chrome PM issue?Gunslinga - If I thought it would help, and if I could, I would.
