so my friend always plays an elf deck....so you know....that boring tribal stuff that just combos, same kind of win, all the time....boring.

what kind of deck would be good to answer that? control? field destruction?

got a good deck list? share it here? non mainstream stuff would be fun...

like phyrexian dreadnaught, and stifle his triggered ability for a second turn 12/12 trampler....stuff people wont see coming haha, no format requirement

Stifle-Dreadnaught is an old combo; in fact it was a staple of the Legacy scene 6+ years ago. The problem is it just isn't good enough any more.

If you want something unexpected, play Humility-Stax. It's old school, but still relevant against a lot of decks, especially something like elves.

Here's the build I keep together for just such occasions:

Land - 27
4x Ancient Tomb
3x City of Traitors
4x Flagstones of Trokair
1x Horizon Canopy
1x Inkmoth Nexus
1x Karakas
2x Mishra's Factory
1x The Tabernacle at Pendrell Vale
4x Wasteland
6x Plains

Spells - 34
4x Mox Diamond
4x Chalice of the Void
4x Trinisphere
3x Crucible of Worlds
4x Ghostly Prison
1x Oblivion Ring
3x Armageddon
2x Ravages of War
4x Humility
2x Moat
3x Elspeth, Knight-Errant

I find this fun to play and annoying to play against. It's also fairly unexpected in most circles. If you're working on a little more of a budget, you can cut the Ravages and Moats for Wrath of God/Day of Judgment and drop the Tabernacle altogether.
