Urboycory | Hey I'm fairly new to the game, not to tcgs tho, I was fairly good at yugioh winning majority of my local tournaments and always having a + win percentage at larger ones. With MTG tho, I can't seem to get any better, I know it's my skill level because I have no problem getting the cards I want/need. I want to be very good Magic I love playing and would like to say I'm good at it. There's a local card shop it just seems not alot of people play magic and when they do they don't play competitively. I have good decks and seems to be better with aggro than with anything, which I think is because of lack of skill. So my question is what do you guys think I can do to get better? Are there people that tutor? Any and all help will be appreciated! |
Myy | Like everything else in life, you just need to practice to get better. Try to play against better players and understand why they make the plays the do. analyze the things they look at and take into consideration. If you can/want try to ask them to explain how certain strategies work. To be a great player, you need to know how your deck functions, and how the deck you're playing against will react/respond. That last part is a little trickier, but you'll be able to make better play decisions once you understand what a certain deck can do. I hope that helps a bit. ~Myy |

Kveezy | The most important thing is probably looking at how your cards in your deck interact with one another. Most of the time, a lot of new players just put a bunch of cards that they think are "cool" or the same color and think that's good. Back in the old days, it might not have been as important but current magic is predicated on gaining the most possible value out of the cards you play. |

I've thought about downloading but keep pushing it off, have found a good shop and great almost tutor for it, I understand the game and I don't want people to think I'm bad at it, i would say I'm fairly good at the game I just want to take it to the next level, stop making mistakes that I shouldn't make. Thanks for anyone who posted! |

What was this in reference to by the way lol? |
dfitzg88 | Pro players post videos on various strategy sites of them entering online events with different decks. See if you can watch some of these. Channel fireball and mtgo academy are my favorites. This is a useful tool in learning matchups, Mulligan conditions, and how to play optimally |
