Vladevlade | I was thinking about this the other day, they have printed the "buddy" lands 3 years in a row now what about next year? I for one think they will reprint the Innistrad "buddy" lands in M14. I have talked to others about this and people's opinions are all over the place. Some think they will just reprint the same cycle of M10- m13 lands, others think the "pain" lands will return some even think a whole new cycle will be printed. What do you think or what would you like to see in M14 for the rare land cycle? |
thror | The painlands arent coming back. Wotc went over how players dont like life payments as a cost, and the core set is not the place for this mechanic. The Innistrad lands are ENEMY colored, and wont be in M14. Enemy colors dont normally get that type of cooperation in core sets. Honestly, the only drawback to the current lands is that they promote control over aggro by coming into play tapped turn1. I would expect to see these again, MAYBE the Scars of Mirrodin ones, or possibly the allied Shadowmoor filterlands. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? I assume you mean WITH land types. Because m10 duals dont have them. Also, shocklands JUST got printed again, and hey look, they have land types. __________________ "He fights you not because you have wronged him, but because you are there."[16:17] <@BrassMan> what do you need new tech for? I think he meant without the 'comes into play tapped unless' clause. As in: Underground Lake - Land T: Add U or B to your mana pool.

Devonin | How do you get "without a comes into play tapped clause" from "without a land type" ? Also, a dual land that came into play without having a chance to come into play tapped would never ever happen again. |
theqissilent | I wish they would use the designs from futuresight, like nimbus maze or river of tears |

agreed. I got that as I read his post to mean that 'dual land' means like the original duals, that don't count as island / swamp. Otherwise, all M-set duals would qualify as what he is hoping for. I assume he's not hoping for something that already exists. __________________ Got Mitotic Manipulation? Firemind's Foresight? Great! I want all bulk rares, check my H/W list!

The only difference between the given example and the original dual lands from alpha is that it lacks the Swamp and Island land types. I don't expect this for M14, but I wouldn't put this totally out of the realm of possibility. I never thought they would put land types on duals again and they did that multiple times. |
WeedIan | Lands with no draw back except land types arn't that great. |
fedorables | I want standard playable triple lands. Like Lairs. Only "rare status". __________________ ლ(ಠ益ಠლ This signature belongs to fedorables. Please return if found.

They're more powerful than what we've been getting in the core set since M10. Is your complaint that they wouldn't be good enough or that they would be too good?
[Edited 1 times, lastly by Pail42 on January 20, 2013] |
hilikuS | I feel like M14 would be a good time to reprint some of the filter lands. |
Zeckk | There are actually quite a lot of good candidates for M14. I disagree with Thror's assessment that R&D doesn't want enemy colors getting support in a core set. M13 had an extremely supported W/B exalted theme, and many of the major draft strategies revolved around enemy pairings (GB rock, RW aggro, GU tempo, etc.). Something like enemy fastlands doesn't break any sacred rules regarding core set design, especially after M10 turned core set design on it's head. newer players tend to disregard land anyways, which has been acknowledged by MTG designers multiple times. |
xxxcryoserumxxx | I would like to see both INN lands and the core set lands printed together. |

So in decks without Farseek, they'd be stronger than even the Rav-duals? That's asking for a lot; but hey, R&D has been giving us a lot. |

I don't mind, I like the Ice Age/Apocalypse painlands. No pain, no gain. Those, and City of Brass. Classic.
