Eatatjoes | Why cant wizards use the foiling process on cards like they did from mirrodin thru lorwyn? Why did they change it? It was fine, the cards didnt warp, and the foiling didnt flake off from being played in a sleeve. I dont like that they have cheapened there product, when they are pulling in record profits. Alot of the new foils have manufacturing errors, where they look like the foil is already peeling, or the edges of the cards are frayed. Also, knowbody likes the ftv foiling, or the premium deck foiling. All the cards are warped, and the products are garbage. Other people have to feel the same way about this. Thoughts? Maybe if enough people complain about this they will change it back? It doesnt seem to farfetched, since they have been folding to every other customer complaint.

Th3Sparkl3r | Let me start off by saying that I hate the whole concept of foils to begin with. If I wanted Pokemon cards, I'd buy Pokemon cards. Anyways... The SOM/INN block foils (except AVR) largely do exactly what you said in terms of chipping, curling, etc. I'll give the AVR foils some time before passing a similar judgment, but they seem to be processed similar to some older sets such as Time Spiral...whether that is for better or worse remains to be seen, but I haven't opened any that are damaged in any way so far. Now PDS foils are a different matter altogether. Not a single one I own has ever warped, chipped, cracked, or otherwise damaged itself. Heck, they even stay flat when they're not compressed in a deck box and double sleeved. I picked them up as a cheap way to get into legacy and I've been nothing but satisfied with them. (and again...that's coming from someone who hates foils with a passion.) |
Zeckk | FtV and PDS foiling process is definitely garbage, but I've actually been a fan of the foiling process for set releases. Foils of cards like Thalia or Geist of Saint Traft are pretty outstanding, and I don't think that the old foiling process would do them justice. |

They look nice, and im sure they would still look awesome with the old foiling process. Im just not a fan of chipping, peeling, flaking and warping of the foiling process. Alot of the cards come warped, or bowed right out of the pack. Have you seen all the new foils sitting on the shelf in the shop? Looks like someone bent all of them playing 3 card monty. Also, on the topic of AVR foils, they look cheap and blury. The miracle cards look pretty sick tho.

Have you ever seen a Foil Temple Garden? The old foiling process was jussst fine. |

Dear god yes .. why did they ever get rid of this? It made it so much easier to quickly tell a card is a foil from picture / scan |
FleeceItOut | yup bring back the star |
LordRelkin | Yes to the old star, please oh please. Why on EARTH did they change the foiling process AGAIN for Avacyn Restored? They all look way too blurry and almost look fake. Its awful. I love foil cards but come on... |
flophaus | Are they really that bad guys? I haven't held any of them yet. My fave foils are just ones that really bring the artwork to life. |

the AVR foils aren't that bad, just all the text seems like its set to bold or something. It looks odd compared to what we're used to. |
keywacat | While they are at the foil process maybe they can stop reissuing cards with crappy artwork. I am not talking about Meddling Mage or Birds of Paradise where reprints a not technically worse, I am talking about cards like: Goblin Piledriver (WTF is going on in the Judge promo?) Maze of Ith (a steel cage maze. no better ideas? really?) Grim Lavamancer is borderline, I vastly prefer the Nelson version, but Sutfin's treatment is not as glaringly bad in comparison as Piledriver or Maze of Ith. |
hilikuS | Foil process changed again? Well I'm quitting magic. |

They are that bad. It's like the foiling from the Premium Slivers, Fire & Lighting and Graveborn sets. They look really crappy in my opinion. |

I mean, I know some players are kinda oblivious to outside world.. but how is this possible?! Also, if AR Foils looks like the slivers foils... ARGHHHH WHY! So terrible. |

I think in this case, he'd be oblivious to the inside world. Also, it was probably more a trollcastic comment. I don't mind foiling changes, if it preserves how long the (foiled) cards will last. Processes that will shorten a (foiled) card's durability = not my cup of tea. Is this new process lengthening or shortening the card durability? edited in the (foiled) for clarity

I worded that wrong, I meant to say that I thought the only time they changed the foiling process was when they abandoned the shooting star/old frame. I never noticed they changed it multiple times since. Might be because I don't care for foils that much. __________________ Most References in Massachusetts 80th All-timeSupport my friend's store: http://www.tabletoparena.com

Volcanon | I was wondering why newish cards I only ever played in sleeves were getting "chipped" on the edges. |

Eatatjoes | Yeah, they have changed it a couple times. Rav block foils, and time spiral block foils are the best foils. Very durable, really good quality. All the Cube people know what im talking about. |
