keywacat | The last few sets have seen me buy fewer and fewer cards from them, I think maybe I have a dozen New Phyrexia block cards in total. Innistrad though has me excited about new cards again, to the point I want a full set, ideally a foil set. The way I see it I could put one together myself, though the last time I tried this with 8th and Mirrodin I got about halfway and then struggled hard to get closer. I could also put one together online and redeem it, I guess, though I have never been on MtGO before and have deep misgivings about it being any easier. Lastly I could wait and buy one. Not as satisying as the chase to collect it myself, but it is over and done right as rain. Any ideas on this? And if the consensus is 'buy one' should I wait until Innistrad rotates out of standard or will it really matter given that so many cards are ideal for Commander / Modern? Cheers for the input; keywacat |
baldr7 | it should be much easier to do this through redemption. prices are almost always cheapr on mtgo __________________

Timmyhill | I also think redemption would be easier... when the sets first come out the cards can be a little pricey online but they drop pretty quickly with all the draft people trying to dump them for tickets to buy more draft sets. Of course there is always that handfull of really playable cards that cost as much as the physical cards so be prepared for that. But for the most part baldr7 is right most of the mtgo cards are cheaper. |
keywacat | Would it be worth it to start a MtGO account just to chase the set, or should I wait for someone selling one they redeemed? |
coasterdude84 | You should also pick up a duplicate set of the double-faced cards. This way, in a binder, you can see both A and B sides. At least, that's my plan. |
baldr7 | It would undoubtedly be cheaper to start an account, and then order a complete foil set from an mtgo retailer's website. When you pay through paypal you get 10% off, and then you could redeem that set __________________

coolio | based on side events at worlds, there's gonna be like 10 sets handed out there, i'd say wait a month or so © __________________ Since it is obviously inconceivable that all religions can be right, the most reasonable conclusion is that they are all wrong. -Christopher HitchensReligion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful. -Seneca the Younger

davef139 | Make a post you are buying a set, im sure you could get a bite if you offer a good price, I know I have about a set. |
wayne | It is far easier to purchase sets from stores on MTGO. However, I am not sure if it is cheaper than stores selling cardboard Magic. Perhaps you could compare prices before deciding whether to open an account or not. |
caquaa | Its also expensive outside the US to redeem sets. You have to pay much higher shipping and also customs taxes can apply. |
keywacat | Any idea how much a fair price on a foil set would be now? I imagine bloody high with the set just released... |
