mm1983 | http://www.magicspoiler.com/modern-masters-2017/ What does everyone think about the reprints so far? Damnation as a non mythic? Does this mean we won't see Liliana of the Veil reprinted? Fetch lands are back. No new art so I see most people wanting to trade them off. Golbin Guide with new art. Most people will want a play set for sure.

1. Wish they'd put the fetches in the fall 2017 set. Doing it this way means they still won't go down enough to want to pick up multiple playsets but they'll hurt the value of my foils so basically a lose lose. at least if they did it in a standard set i could pick up enough that i wouldn't swap lands between decks and get more utility to make up for value lost. 2. Really wishing i'd sold off my foil bring to light scapeshift deck with foil misty's and foil damnation..snapcaster etc...and wish i'd sold off the 4 foil verdant catacombs that i only traded a buddy my LEDs for bc he needed LEDs and i figured id sell them quickly or trade them back for LEDs (this was last year right before LEDs spiked....) 3. fingers crossed for mishra's bauble and horizon canopy 4. can we have super secret ultra mythic rishadan port promos once per like 4 cases? :-P 5. ****, they are reprinting damnation and goblin guide...what will i make fun of them for now...oh i'll think of something... 6. hopefully they'll reprint cards that are at risk of becoming expensive and prevent them from getting expensive so even though i own a buttload of abrupt decays i traded for before they went down that'd be a good reprint. 7. im not sure if i want them to reprint grim lavamancer or not. sure a reprint would hurt my collection's value a lot (i own about 300 GL) but if the quality is like mma 2015 then id be able to find lots of misprints.. |
chaos021 | I find the reprints largely underwhelming. Some of them have been necessary for a while now, but I agree with LandDestroyer on the Zendikar fetch lands cycle. They should've been done in a Standard set. Other than that, nothing about the reprints interests me really. Not to mention, MM3 Limited looks like it's going to be weird at best. I hope it's close to as good as Eternal Masters drafting was. That limited was so good. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. aethertech | I can't even think of a single card other than Damnation that I care about them reprinting... So, the entire set to me is going to be "meh," beyond Damnation itself. I'll pick up a box, for shiggles and hope I pull some sweet foils to trade off for some sweet duals I need for EDH. |
B-Town | I thought for sure they'd do Liliana. I also thought they'd do Cavern of Souls, which I'm doubting now that it's been announced that 1/3 of the Mythics will be high dollar lands. I think MM is good for drafting and is a good way to build up a collection for play or trading. I can see how it doesn't do much for people that have huge, high value collections. |
simbayu | Looks good so far. Fetches are one of the biggest cost of entry for modern so having them cheaper should bring more players into modern. I don't have much confidence in modern in the long run, but MM17 should elevate modern interest in the short term.

mm1983 | Frontier may replace modern in the long term. I noticed that Modern Masters 2017 has the same card style used for the frontier format. Will they make a ruling stating that Modern Masters 3 cards can't be played for frontier unless it already has a M15 and newer printing or will those cards be allowed for the format?

My issue is that even for those who don't have those collections, they have a very limited window to play enough limited to find what they want or trade with someone who hopefully cracks what they want. I think the way they're going about it is dumb to be honest. So for those low-value collection people you're thinking of, what's the best way to get what you want without straight up buying it? I ask because if you're going to buy them any way, you should probably wait for the prices to drop, which probably means at the end of this Modern season at least. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. It's inevitable that a newer, non-rotating, format will 'replace' modern just as modern 'replaced' legacy. I think both Aaron Forsythe and MaRo have confirmed this on social media. WotC isn't willing/able to reprint enough cards to keep the cost down, and they want a format where you can feel like your old standard cards are still useful. Such a format makes the cost of standard more palletable. |

Pretty sure he mistook fetches for being mythic, when they are in fact rare. __________________ Wisconsin - smells like dairy air!I collect Granite Gargoyles. Send them my way.

mm1983 | So far it looks to be every color will have 2 mythics except land or artifacts will only have 1 mythic. I'm leaning towards the land mythic probably being Cavern of Souls and then possibly Mox Opal being one of the artifact mythic rares. |

It could be a mistake. One of the bigger spoiler pages had the fetches listed under Mythic Rare a couple of days ago. That's what I was going on. I can't find it again now that they've all been updated with more cards coming out. |
James_Hetfield2 | So Caverns at mythic and kinda surprising Goyf in again. Whats missing is what's interesting too. No Noble, no Emrakul, what else? |

I'm not surprised Goyf got reprinted again. It's a $100+ 3-4 of in decks that run it, and I think WOTC wants to get its price below $100. As for what's missing, there's still 1 mythic to go and I think it will be Mox Opal, Olivia Voldaren, or Huntmaster of the Fells. As for the remaining rares (~20 left), Noble Hierarch and Ensnaring Bridge both could use a reprint and I won't be surprised to see both get a reprint in this set. There could also be some surprises with a B&R announcement coming up soon. A Stoneforge Mystic unban & reprint (at rare or mythic) wouldn't surprise me. |

I thought about it but I'd rather just buy the foils I want. |

This isn't the forum for this discussion, but I'm calling bull**** on this for a few reasons. __________________ "Message to women worldwide: Girls....we're stupid. We don't like games. We don't know games. We can't read minds. Say it like you mean or STFU." -rockondonSale Thread

James_Hetfield2 | Ancestral Visions is out, so that card might go crazy paper and online. My EMA box was literally worth about $30. But I guess I'll buy one of these. Can't get worse I'll probably open Bonfire and Entreat and zero fetches. |
Demilio | Despite getting wrecked by paying $255 for a box of EMA (still have it sealed), I preordered two boxes of MM17 for $180. This seems like a can't lose set.
|
mm1983 | Set looks to be solid value so far. Possibly more overall value than the first Modern Masters. Boxes are back up to near MSRP pricing on TCG. |
