GP freeze your balls off? don't see myself headed to this one. temp for Lincoln in Feb: low 17.2°F high 39.3°F It can get cold out here, but I also stay inside and don't do a thing unless I have to. Flying in snow and ice and all that stuff? meh! |
MagixDK | is wondering why USA gets 8 GPs, and europe 3? |
caquaa | isn't it obvious? wotc hates europe! if I had to wager a real guess, when wotc released info talking about increased number of GPs, it was mentioned that there would be GPs with lower payouts. It seems likely due to high attendance of European GPs that those will likely not be reduced pay outs, hence there would be less of them. |
MagixDK | to me thats a kind of reverse logic, that greatly attended events =>less events. if players really want to play, isnt wizard supporting that? at least this was part of their latest statement regard planeswalker points. |
caquaa | yah but if they ran a lot of GPs and all had high attendance, then they'd likely have to all be high pay out events. Maybe its not in the budget? Dunno. Maybe next quarter there will be a ton in Europe. Just have to wait and see. |
wayne | Heh, is extended now dead and buried? |
Phyrexian Angel | I thought this was announced on August already http://www.wizards.com/Magic/Magazine/Article.aspx?x=mtg/daily/other/082311aHowever, I think the schedule is pretty unfair to European and Asian under Planwswalker-point based PT Invaition and GP Byes, since Americans definitely have more chances to earn PW points compare with Europeans/Asians. Example: American attending all 8 European GPs, with all 6-3 records and drops on day 1 total points=(18+10)*8*8GPs=1792 European attending all 3 European GPs. going to day2 with 12-3 record (36+10)*8*3GPs=1104 So, I guess after season 1, people who got the PT invitations (top 65 competitive total) and 3-GP byes (Top 300 competitive total) will be almost all Americans. |

This announcement is for the format for each of the GP. |
Animosity | Sweet Legacy is in Indy. I will be going to that one. |

Quantity of players and amount of country to cover, mostly. Plus WOTC is an American-based company. |

I've liked to link to this before http://goeurope.about.com/od/europeanmaps/l/bl-country-size-comparison-map.htm without doing some google searches and such, I'm pretty sure the population in Europe is far more dense then that of the States, right? We have a lot of rural area... basically the middle ;p |

Possibly, unless it becomes a family weekend vacation. |
